Club Sky Bar has to close because the owner found the $40,000 bill for installing a required sprinkler system to be far too high. Hence, Sky Bar, which nurtured metal and goth bands, is having one last, lengthy blowout on Sunday.
Many bands will be playing the gig, including Graveside Service as the headliner. The full lineup is on the MySpace page of Anderson Mar, who was the club's booking agent.
The event starts on Sunday at 12 noon and will run until 12 midnight. At 15 minutes past midnight, all parties involved will hold a funeral service for the beloved bar.
Another band on the Sky Bar scene will include Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys, which will be playing at the Sky Bar tonight at 10 pm. You may remember from when WBZ mistakenly implied that band members took their clothes off on Lowell's community access TV, but we imagine they'd rather be known for their music.
