--Why can't we just have a light day with the Bonbon Bandit instead of the carnage that has filled the Blotter as of late? Last night, a 9-year-old got shot in a house in Mattapan. Two teenagers were found shot outside. A party was going on at the time, which raises the question of what a 9-year-old was doing at the party and the even more important question of what guns were doing at the party. Elsewhere, two people were shot in Dorchester.
--More on the birthday cookout slayings that killed Jeffrey Jones and Jarrid Campbell. The cookout took place at a project, and the Boston Housing Authority is threatening to evict those who threw the unauthorized party. Note to the BHA: Parties don't kill people. Guns kill people. Why not find the people who did the shooting and arrest them? Just a thought.
--Three people were injured in a small plane crash in Gardner yesterday. All are alive, but the rescue effort was slowed down because the plane landed in a swamp. Two of the passengers are husband and wife.
--An Amtrak train crashed into a vehicle in Attleboro last night. The train was going 125 an hour when it plowed into an empty SUV. No one got hurt. But here's where it gets weird - reports indicate that the SUV was left on the tracks on purpose. The car, along with a Toyota that was found in a nearby pond, was supposed to be shipped to Iraq. (No word on why an SUV and a Toyota were deemed so important that they needed to go to Iraq.)
--The two alleged shooters who plugged a teenager at Ruggles on June 28 have been apprehended. And they're brothers! WHDH reports that Jeremy and Jonathan Thomas will be arraigned tomorrow.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
