Common Sense Wins: The 6 House Reopens

The 6 House, the South Boston bar that was shut down after Adam Rich of Revere was killed in a bar brawl, has reopened. The city shut it down, not just because of the stabbing but because they had Whitey Bulger flashbacks, since the bar used to be a Bulger haunt. But the city has finally realized that a bar brawl doesn't mean The 6 House is Whitey's old place, so they've given a reprieve.

The Boston Licensing Board investigated The 6 House, and the Globe quotes the head of the licensing board as saying, "[The bar staff] did everything they were supposed to do. All of a sudden, a fight started. And immediately the bartender called the police. This is before the knife even came out."

State Representative Brian P. Wallace, who initially wanted the bar closed, admitted that "We've overreacted." Many propers to a guy big enough to admit he was wrong, but it's a shame that The 6 House had to lose revenue while our local leaders (not just Wallace) worried that Bulger was possessing 6 House patrons.
