Mitt Romney Doesn't Need a Romney Girl - He Has Himself

051307a_romney.jpgAs the presidential race gets hotter, Americans have met Obama Girl and Giuliani Girl. So, where is Romney Girl?

Well, former Massachusetts governor and presidential aspirant Mitt Romney might not want a Romney Girl around because he clearly likes being the best-looking person in the room. Word got out that Mitt Romney hired a makeup team.

Maybe we're being hard on Romney, but Politico reported that Romney paid Hidden Beauty for "a mobile beauty team for hair, makeup and men's grooming and spa services." Clearly, Hidden Beauty couldn't stay hidden for long.

That in itself isn't odd because people get made up all the time for television appearances. Three hundred smackers seems high, but some politicians could use all the help they can get. During the last election, poor Richard Gephardt looked especially cadaverous in harsh lighting. What is odd is that the Romney campaign classified the makeup service as "communications consulting."

Romney could have been a whole lot cooler if he had the guts to admit that he wore makeup. He could have even made a joke saying that he wore a lot less than Giuliani or McCain if he were so inclined.

Then again, the Romney campaign may have leaked his beauty secret on purpose. The Politico piece quotes a person who worked on Romney's mug, and she said, "He's already tan. We basically put a drop of foundation on him … and we powdered him a little bit." Take that, Giuliani!
