Correction: Many thanks to an anonymous guest who pointed out that it is "Tappet," not "Tappert." That was an egregious typo because Bostonist loves "Car Talk." This kind guest also provides a Wikipedia explanation of "Tappet" and its link to "Click" and "Clack." Dewey, Cheetham, and Howe forever!
Car buffs, stoners, and the hung over will wax rhapsodic over "Car Talk," the NPR talk show that airs out of Harvard Square. The car tips of Tom and Ray Magliozzi, aka "Click and Clack the Tappert Brothers," are actually helpful, and their chuckles have a strange healing quality if you hear it on Saturday morning after a rough Friday night out.
Jessica Heslam at the Herald spread word that PBS is making a cartoon series for next summer that is inspired by the lives of the brothers Magliozzi.
Even better, the brothers Magliozzi will be asking viewers to submit ideas for the sitcom's name.
If PBS plans on making more of these, we'd be thrilled to see "Jim and Friends," which follows the hi-jinks of Jim Lehrer and his NewsHour posse.

More Than a Feeling: New George Clooney Movie Stares at Goats, Appreciates Boston

It's "tappet brothers", not "tappert".
Tappets are part of a car engine that actuate the valves. When they're out of adjustment, they can make click and clack noises.

Jim Lehrer actually guest-voices on an episode as Jim LaHair of the NewsHalfHour... so you kind of get your wish.
