Local hero and movie star Matt Damon got his own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on Wednesday. The event didn't have much to do with Boston, except for an ad in Variety that gave Defamer pause:
One unexpected tribute, however, is the quarter-pager taken out by Damon's beloved Red Sox; presumably, should less frequently employed creative partner and Fenway Park ubiquity Ben Affleck ever receive his own star, the team will spring for a two-page spread to thank him for so visibly filling the seats near their home dugout during his downtime.
So if the Red Sox publicly thank Mr. Damon, does it mean that they want him to show up at Fenway more often since, well, Ben Affleck is still trying to get over that Gigli thing? (Yeah, it was long ago, but movies that bad never really go away. It's bad – and not in the lovable Troll 2 sort of way.)
At least the love between Damon and the Red Sox is mutual. Damon said at the Walk of Fame event, "I'm thankful the Red Sox are in first place."
