Where's Denzel? We Missed Him
We saw so much of Denzel Washington in the local press recently that we're feeling a little left out, even more so since he's probably left town by now. Boston media was so Denzel-happy that we half expected someone to run a post saying, "I threw my panties at Denzel!" It's like Denzel Washington was here, there, and everywhere in Boston.
Washington was in town for the shooting of The Great Debaters, about a 1930s small-town debate team that takes on Harvard. Washington stars as an inspiring professor.
The Crimson did a piece in which, of course, they restrained their excitement at the fact that the movie was shooting on the Harvard campus. Instead of a picture of Washington, they ran dressed as students in the 1930s. We would have preferred stock footage of Washington.
The picture also shut down a piece of Memorial Drive recently. Plus, Washington and Governor Deval Patrick buddied up following a big to-do at the AMC Boston Common regarding a film tax credit in Massachusetts that's supposed to bring more famous people – and their wallets – to Boston.
The Track Girls made their contribution with the unfortunately titled "Denzel Heats Things Up at Wang." (Jon Stewart called it a long time ago when he performed at "the Wang.") Last Friday, he "schmoozed and cruised" in a pair of track pants and running shoes. Sexy.
Well, if everyone's going to get a little nutty because a celeb has been spotted around and about, at least it's someone who appears classy and hasn't been captured in mugshots, unlike certain other celebrities we won't name.
Did YOU see Denzel?
