To Do Tonight: Smell an Oompa Loompa

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will screen at 8:30 pm tonight at Union Square in Somerville. The "Carnival of the Nose" starts at 7:00.

So, you don't have Police tickets? Console yourself with the smell of an Oompa Loompa!

You've no doubt seen the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Gene Wilder (not the one with Johnny Depp doing his best Michael Jackson impression). But now Somerville is giving you the opportunity to smell the movie.

Tonight, the Somerville Arts Union is holding Som-R-ville in Smell-O-Vision at Union Square. Not only will they show Willy Wonka, but they will also hold a Carnival of the Nose where you can indulge yourselves with all manner of scents.

We were a little surprised that the Arts Union isn't showing John Waters' Polyester, which had scratch-n-sniff cards, but they can save that for Som-R-ville in Smell-O-Vision - After Dark Edition.
