Boston Blotter: Drowning at Jamaica Pond

073007_jamaica_pond.jpg--A woman drowned in Jamaica Pond yesterday night. The BPD has identified her as 43-year-old DeAngela Fuller. Her young son was on the shore and saw her go into the water. Her boyfriend, who had stepped away on an errand, called 911. Firefighters pulled her from the water, but she died at the hospital.

While it may be tempting, people are not supposed to swim at the pond – it is 53 feet deep. The woman's body was found at only 5 feet deep.

--Police believe they've found the man who raped an elderly woman in her own home last week. The DA's office says 50-year-old Raymond M. Epps, Jr., also known as Monty Garrett and Lavon Garett, was arraigned today. Epps is being held on $750,000 cash bail.

In the case, the assailant pretended to be maintenance in order to get inside the home. DNA evidence led the police to Epps.

--Yesterday morning, two people died in an early-morning automobile accident on Interstate 93. Now, Weber Medeiros will go to court for driving drunk and potentially causing the crash that killed 45-year-old Ashenafi Mckennon and 37-year-old Abate Getnof.

All charges alleged until proven under law. Image of Jamaica Pond from Wikipedia.
