Roxbury Film Festival Spotlight: I'm Through With White Girls

I'm Through With White Girls opens the Roxbury Film Festival and will be at the Museum of Fine Arts' Remis Auditorium at 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 2. The Roxbury Film Festival is running from Wednesday, August 1, to Sunday, August 5, at various venues around town. Check the Roxbury Film Festival's website for a schedule and details.

The ninth-annual Roxbury Film Festival starts off with the provocatively titled comedy I'm Through With White Girls. Director Jennifer Sharp and star Anthony Montgomery will be on hand for a Q&A. Montgomery stars as Jay, a black, indie-rock kind of guy with a lot of white friends but no luck dating white women.

So Jay decides to go on "Operation Brown Sugar" and date black women instead. But will he find a black woman as indie as he is? And, once he finds her, will he be able to hang on to her?

If the plot sounds familiar, the movie used to be known as The Inevitable Undoing of Jay Brooks but was retitled after it won a few film-festival prizes and needed a more memorable name. Here's the trailer, back when it was "Jay Brooks":
