Angela Vasquez, the mother who allegedly killed her son and daughter and attempted to kill herself in Roslindale Sunday night, has been charged for two counts of murder. She appeared in court yesterday, where she was "deemed suicidal." She will undergo a psychological evaluation.
As far as the crime itself is concerned, police have revealed that her two children died from poisoning, not from stabbing, and that they may have been dead for two days before police entered the house. Notebooks found in the house imply that Vasquez had been planning the crime.
The latest reports suggest that Vasquez was somehow pushed over the edge. Before the murders, it seemed that Vasquez had her life under control. Although she had been monitored by DSS at one point for neglecting her children, Dennis and Jasmine, she appeared to gather herself together in 2000.
Neighbors have kept saying that, by all appearances, Vasquez was a true success story and that she was doing great with her kids but that she suffered from depression. She told one friend that she had tried to commit suicide in the past.
Also, Children's Hospital said that Vasquez didn't lose her job – she quit last week. Vasquez' cousin said that Vasquez had just broken up with a boyfriend. But leaving a job and a boyfriend doesn't usually drive a person to kill her own children. The only person who is going to have any answers is Angela Vasquez herself.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
