A Long Story Behind Deadly Blue Hill Crash

080407_blue_hill.JPGJason Bailey may have been chasing the car that eventually crashed into a tree on Blue Hill Avenue and Callender Street yesterday morning. That crash killed a passenger, 18-year-old Porsche Hubbard, and injured the female driver, a 10-year-old girl, and a baby.

The DA's office announced that 28-year-old Bailey, of Mattapan, was arrested and charged for the crime yesterday, and he is being held on $100,000 bail. That announcement says that Bailey was allegedly vicious in his pursuit of the other car, rear-ending it with his SUV "multiple times." When police pursued his car, he tried to drive off, but they managed to stop him. Bailey also has a long history of past crimes.

The incident began when Bailey got into a fight with the driver at a gas station. When they drove off, he followed. Current reports indicate that Hubbard wasn't fighting with Bailey.

Hubbard and her 10-year-old niece, China White, happened to be in the car at the time. The niece said, "The scary man in white truck was yelling at the gas station.” China White also told Hubbard not to let the driver of the car, who was apparently friends with Hubbard, get behind the wheel.
