Boston Blotter: A Fist Full of Fish Sauce

080407_fish_sauce.jpg--One does not mess with a family that knows how to use a bottle of fish sauce. A guy learned that the hard way last night when he tried to hold up a package store in Methuen. He encountered Ross Vannarith, the hard-ass package-store owner who survived the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia and who was in no mood to deal with some lightweight petty thief.

He also encountered Vannarith's son, who grabbed a bottle of fish sauce and pounded the robber's head with great vigor while Vannarith held the perp in a bear hug. The father-son pair beat up the guy so badly that blood went all over the floor and the robber needed 40 stitches, and Vannarith felt bad about it afterwards. WHDH has a picture of the perp - and he looks like he's still surprised at how his attempted robbery turned out.
