Boston Blotter: Weymouth Child Killed by Her Cousin

033107_body_outline.jpg--The 7-year-old allegedly kidnapped and killed by her 20-year-old first cousin has been identified as Joanna Mullin of Weymouth.

The cousin, Ryan Bois, has been described by various sources as addicted to drugs and homeless. But no one thought he would be capable of killing a child. His own mother said, "The drugs and the drinking just ruined him."

Bois allegedly took Mullin from her grandmother's house, and police found a ladder leaning against the window of the bedroom where the child was sleeping. The Herald reports that Bois "begged" the police to kill him before they found Mullin's body. Her body also showed "signs of sexual abuse."

When police hauled Bois into court this morning, he spat at reporters, and one of the reporters hit by the spit had to go to the hospital because Bois has Hepatitis C. All charges alleged and so forth, but given the nature of his alleged crimes, Bois is on the fast track to becoming the most-hated man in New England.

--Danielle Grady, the woman shot and killed over the weekend, was scheduled to testify against the man who allegedly killed her own boyfriend in July. Her murderer shot her right in front of her friends – she was in the backseat as they were parking their car on Dunkeld Street. Grady leaves behind a 7-year-old son. Maybe police and the courts will do a better job of protecting Grady's friends than they did protecting her.

Neighbors who heard the gunshots and were interviewed by the Globe asked not to be identified.

--Bringing a gun to a party is a serious party foul. Not only does it make everyone nervous, but it pretty much guarantees that the police are going to show up and spoil the fun. Some real jerks brought more than booze and cheese dip to a party in Mattapan. Late Saturday night, the BPD noticed a party raging on Thane Street, which shouldn't be an issue in itself. But then a guy made the universal signal of "clutching his waist area," which is BPD-ese for indicating that you're packing heat. Police rounded up that guy, another guy who tried to hide his gun, and some real idiots who tried to beat on the officers.

--Speaking of party fouls, telling a police officer that you don't "give a (expletive)" that they are cops is a one-way ticket to the pokey.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
