We usually mind our own when it comes to goings-on in our neighboring states, unless it involves tax-evading, bunker-building survivalists or the recovery of large quantities of pot. But French president Nicolas Sarkozy, who is vacationing on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, yelled at an American photographer who was taking pictures of him Sunday afternoon.
What did Sarkozy expect? Peace and quiet on his rural vacation? That is not how the American media rolls. Lindsay Lohan isn't in New England, the Brady Baby isn't born yet, and the Kennedys must be out of town, so photographers and reporters – and bloggers - need something to do!
The photographer told WBZ that Sarkozy seemed cool with everything, "And then he noticed us taking pictures and his happy demeanor diminished immediately." Sarkozy didn't just shout – he got a little closer by hopping on their boat.
For some reason, we feel funny staring at the image of Sarkozy getting mad. He's kind of cute, like a cub defending his turf. (He's a short man, after all.) Wonkette found him more sexy than we did and praised his manly swagger: "Not every world leader hides behind his security services like a little girl."
Apparently he had asked the media to "leave me tranquilly with my family" – in French. He must have assumed that Americans speak two or three languages. Silly French President!
This is red meat for Fox "Freedom Fries" News. We can hear the talking heads saying, "There's the French for you!" right now.
