Fake Steve Outed
Will the real Fake Steve Jobs please stand up? Yes, he will. And he'll do it in Boston. The New York Times outed the blogger who's been blogging as a Steve Jobs iMpersonator (can we trademark that?) for over a year. His real name Daniel Lyons a Medford resident. He's been impersonating the Apple chief and lampooning his persona on the blog fakesteve.blogspot.com. In the last year it's gotten the attention of the tech elite including both Bill Gates and the real Steve Jobs, not to mention countless fans across the internets. Lyons is a senior editor at Forbes…which is quite surprising that someone at Forbes, especially someone with a title like a senior editor, has a sense of humor. The Forbes leadership promptly creamed themselves when the report hit the wire that one of their own was a popular blogger. They've committed to publishing the Fake Steve blog as part of Forbes.com: "Fake Steve Jobs will add a different voice to Forbes.com, but one that is in the Forbes tradition for both."– even though Fake Steve is now a real live human being, not anonymous, and no longer an iMpersonator. The first post after the outing by the NYT contained surprise that Lyons hadn't been found out earlier, he admits that he wasn't that good at keeping a secret. Today's entry, the second since the outing, takes a dig at Nick Denton – after last week's call to arms we're going to go ahead and have to support any dig at Denton and his empire anyone wants to make.
