Boston Blotter: Police Hunt for Esplanade Attacker

080807_police_sketch.jpg--Police have released a sketch of the man they believe to be responsible for the two attacks on women on the Esplanade and one attack in South Boston. Again, here is a description: "A black man, 28 to 32 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 220 pounds with a muscular build and a shaved head. The man was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and dark-colored jeans." We're also posting the police sketch. Police have also increased patrols in the area.

--A light pole in Charlestown came down on an unlucky landscaper, striking him in the head. Edgar Teas is currently in fair condition in the hospital. One witness told the Globe, "A branch falls on a wire that's not even close to the pole, you don't expect the pole to come down."

--Brandon Maryland, who was accused of stabbing 15-year-old Shawn Adams to death at the Dudley Square MBTA station in 2004, was acquitted of the crime yesterday. The case is especially important because Maryland testified that a Boston homicide detective had bullied him into confessing and let the real killer go free. The outcome of this case probably won't improve relations between the DA's office and the BPD.

--If you want to hide your meth lab, don't make the garbageman angry. Paul Chartier of Framingham is accused of tossing dangerous chemicals into a garbage truck. A fire erupted in the truck and made the lives of the garbagemen a lot more difficult. Upon further investigation, the garbagemen and the police recognized the tools of the meth trade.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
