--Saturday night is supposed to be a time of fun and relaxation, but some people just don't get it. Last night, at a party on Bowdoin Street, someone fired a gun, and two people were injured. It could have been worse. One of the bullets entered another house, almost striking two boys inside.
--Speaking of Monster Parties that at least didn't leave anyone shot, the BPD ran into not one, but two, mobile parties last night in Roxbury. Police pulled over two separate cars on Dudley (one at Dudley and Mount Pleasant and another at Dudley and Magazine) for traffic violations. The BPD detected marijuana or, in BPD parlance, "a blunt cigar (a form of marijuana)" and several partially smoked cigarettes (commonly referred to as blunts)." The blunts and the bad driving were obviously minor offenses. Unfortunately for everyone involved, police found that people in both cars had guns.
--Elsewhere on the BPD blotter, a man who had a bottle tossed at his head took the law into his own hands last night. While in Brighton, a guy got hit in the head with a beer bottle during a "loud party." Police apparently took a note of it. Then, a little while later, police were called to a fight in which the guy who got beaned in the head managed to get a hold of the alleged bottle-tosser. Police then arrested the tosser.
--Arizona police caught the man who robbed and tied up Bruce Northrup, of Arlington, so tightly that he lost part of his left arm. Doctors are trying to save Northrup's right arm, and one of his relatives told the Herald, "He's not doing all that great." He goes out to Phoenix with Habitat for Humanity to help people, and this is what he gets.
--Big Load Laundry in Roxbury went up in flames yesterday. No one got hurt, but no one is sure why the Laundromat caught fire. Two men tried to break into the laundry last week. In a strange coincidence, the restaurant next door is named "Flames," but it didn't get burned.
