Bloggiest? We Prefer Bloggy-ist

fortpointimg.jpgOutside.in has been tracking local blog action for 3,500 neighborhoods in 60 cities across the country. They came out with the top ten blogging neighborhoods back in April. Newton and Watertown made that list (4 and 7, respectively.) Today Chris Reidy at the Globe posts up an item that Outside.in has named Boston the Bloggiest City in the nation. During March and April the Boston area chalked up 89 posts per 100,000 people (we're trying to skew the average as we posted upwards of 400 times on this site during that time.) As our headline says, we'd prefer they call us the Bloggy-ist city, Boston beat out the other cities in our network including the close competitors DC and Philly – apparently the mother ship in NYC just as too many hundreds of thousands of people to catch up to our statistics. According to the initial posting on Boston.com

Why was Greater Boston number one? Outsidein.com chief executive Steven Berlin Johnson offered this theory: Blogs thrive where locals are wired, well-educated, and obsessed with politics, a topic that inspires bloggers to unleash their prose. Another popular blog topic locally: healthcare.
Reidy called up Bostonist HQ to ask the same question – our answer to him? Daisuke. Sure, Boston likes to blog. We've all got friends who continue to post about their personal topics of interest, images they've taken, and, well, musings about sports in the city – but the Sox always have us talking. If you look at March and April and try and figure out what people were talking about there were any number of things: the Boston Red Sox were in spring training in Florida and we were on pins and needles waiting for Dice-K to toss the first pitch at Fenway, meanwhile the Celtics were apparently throwing their season. We watched. We blogged. So did you. Congratulations Boston for the title. Now can we convince you to take our survey?

Image of Boston's Fort Point Channel taken by Bostonist's Jon Petitt - but through the bloggiest connections it's being transformed into a painting by a local artist. But watch out - not all of Hooker's posts are SFW.
