Mittbrenner
We know that Massachusetts is the albatross around Mitt Romney's neck as he campaigns for the Republican nomination. We know he talks about us like an old fling he had, that doesn't really mean anything. And for the most part, it's mutual.
But then we find out from the Herald today that the Romneys are stockholders in the YES Network, the TV network of the Yankees. So the whole time Mitt was in Boston - yukking it up when the Sox won, posing for photo-ops on Storrow Drive - for all we know, he was shuttling down to the Bronx to count his money alongside George Steinbrenner. In fact, for all we know, he and Yankee GM Brian Cashman were consulting on personnel moves! Was Mitt behind Johnny Damon's haircut and defection?
Romney spokespeople are furiously insisting that the stocks were in a blind trust that Mitt had no control over and no input into. But some damning evidence comes from the Globe, which notes that there was someone in charge of the trust who was supposed to look out for problem investments; for instance, some companies that did business with Iran got jettisoned from Mitt's portfolio.
So doing business with Iran is unseemly, but doing business with the Yankees is A-OK. Every man has his price, they say.
We should have suspected this. MassLive noted back in June that Mitt failed to be stirred by the playing of "Dirty Water" at an Iowa campaign event. We wonder if the ex-Governor would even recognize Johnny Pesky. Sigh.

What a douche Mitt is. Soon we'll be hearing that this archetypal hypocrite has been marketing wine coolers -- with Derek Jeter as spokesman, of course.

I hope Mitt never went clubbing in NY with A-Rod.
