Boston Blotter: Police Looking for Witnesses in Esplanade Attacks

080807_police_sketch.jpg--Police might be getting closer to tracking down the individual who attacked two women on the Esplanade on June 16 and July 29. The DA and the State Police put out a release saying they want to talk to five people who may have seen the man before the attacks happened. On June 16, one of the victims spotted a man by an Esplanade footbridge at 11:15. On July 29, the other victim saw two people rolling their bicycles near the footbridge between 4:30 and 5:00 am. The victim also saw two "well-dressed" individuals near Joe's American Bar and Grill between 5:00 and 5:30 am.

Again, the perp is described thusly: "A black man, 28 to 32 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 220 pounds with a muscular build and a shaved head. The man was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and dark-colored jeans."

--Ann Gryboski, the Cape Cod doctor who shot her husband to death, will not face murder charges. She successfully proved to a grand jury that the killing was in self-defense and that her late husband had a history of being abusive. On the night of his death, she testified that he punched her in the face multiple times in front of their 2-year-old grandson because she didn't leave a restaurant quickly enough. When her husband threatened to slash the throat of their own son the next day, she fought back.

--Adam Lamothe, a Massachusetts National Guard Sergeant from Worcester, took a trip to New Hampshire and allegedly wreaked havoc there. He is accused of driving into two parked cars and striking two cyclists, all while drunk. One of the cyclists sustained a brain injury.

--A 65-year-old woman was shot to death in Everett last night, and police have arrested her own husband for the murder. In fact, George Philbrook went straight to Vernon's Liquor after allegedly shooting his wife, Dorothy Philbrook. Police picked him up there, and one hopes he wasn't buying champagne.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
