--A man was set free after being held 44 days for a crime he didn't commit. After a 3-month-old girl was slashed at a party in July, police arrested Andrew Vaughn. Investigation revealed that a woman at the party, 19-year-old Mabel Rojas, committed the crime.
What went wrong? Suspicions fell upon Vaughn, who was attending a party at the house with Rojas and the baby's mother. He saw the baby injured in the bedroom and brought the girl to the mother, and everyone at the party said he was the last one in the room with the baby. (Not very good friends, are they?) As for Rojas, her lawyer is saying she has mental problems and that she had suffered a miscarriage before the incident. As for the baby, the girl has healed and is in foster care.
--The motorist who killed retired UConn professor Albert Alissi when he hit Alissi with his car has been charged with motor vehicle homicide. Todd Jenkins, of Dennis, said that the sun blinded him, and he couldn't see Alissi walking on the road.
--Police are offering $500 to anyone who will give up some hoseheads who have been throwing rocks off an overpass on Route 9 in Westborough. Watch the skies!
All charges alleged until proven under law.
