Gordon College, a Christian nondenominational liberal arts college in Wenham, received a massive influx of cash - $60 million dollars. That's nothin' compared to the bills that line Harvard's pockets, but, proportionally, this gift is a blessing, so to speak, for a school with an endowment of $33 million.
Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler made the donation, and the campus will be named in their honor. In a phone interview with the Gloucester Daily Times, Fowler said he didn't see the point in donating to schools that were already loaded. At Gordon, the money can go straight into scholarships and professors' salaries.
The Fowlers' donation also sets a philanthropic record in the rather wealthy area of Orange County, California, where the Fowlers live. The Fowlers just beat out the inventor of Hot Pockets when it comes to that philanthropic distinction.
It feels funny using the phrase "rich, bitches!" in a post about a Christian school, but we can imagine that students, faculty, and administrators are feeling a similar, expletive-free sentiment right about now.

too bad gordon college is full of right wing christian crazies. if a student there is caught with an unopened condom, they are forced to attend extra chapel sessions. if they come out as being gay, they're forced into special christian counseling.
