Tedy Bruschi will be signing books at Brookline Booksmith on Saturday, September 1, at 2:00 pm.
Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi has written a memoir, Never Give Up: My Stroke, My Recovery & My Return to the NFL. We wonder if the memoir addresses the recent rumor that Bruschi had died at MGH. Perhaps for the second printing, the publisher should retitle it I'm Not Dead, Thanks for Asking: My Stroke, My Recovery & My Return to the NFL.
Brookline Booksmith warns aspiring autograph hounds that Bruschi will sign only books: "Not jerseys, footballs, or parts of the body. Just books." But, Booksmith, what if it is an interesting body part?
If you are considering actually buying the book instead of thrusting a random body part toward Bruschi, then at least one reviewer warns that you shouldn't expect much. Jason Schwartz at the Boston Magazine blog says that Bruschi and his co-writer, WEEI talker Michael Holley and former Globe writer, don't exactly distinguish themselves. Schwartz writes, "…Readers be warned, this book is sloppy. Embarrassingly sloppy."
What, you mean Bruschi's tome doesn't trump the scintillating prose of Charles Barkley's I May Be Wrong, But I Doubt It? No way!
