The name of the Brady Baby has finally emerged, and Bridget Moynahan, mother of Tom Brady's son, has emphatically distanced herself from her babydaddy. Lest we be mistaken, the child is named "John Edward Thomas Moynahan."
She was generous enough to insert the "Thomas," but the message is clear. John Edward Thomas Moynahan. Not Brady.
In an additional "take that," the baby's initials spell out the name of another team: J.E.T. Moynahan. Bet babydaddy Brady won't be sending the tyke anything monogrammed.
Moynahan deserves propers for her creativity when it comes to subtle vengeance. And at least she didn't give the child one of those silly Hollywood baby names like "Banjo" or "Pilot" or anything like that. In her honor, we will no longer use the phrase "Brady Baby" and refer to "JET" by his proper name.

Why can't a single mother give her child her family name without drawing such controversy? Are we really still that paternalistic? Bridget is the head of her family. I congratulate Bridget for giving her son her family name. It is her family after all.
The baby's father did not marry Ms. Moynahan. It is tough enough to be a single mom. We should empathize with her instead of judgmentally deprecating her as vengeful. It is in the child's interest to have a real family to connect with. Some children may choose to take a step-father's name at a later date because of the real paternal role the man would play in the child's life.
This Bostonist writer exhibits a quirky habit of subtly disparaging the unpresent others in several of her articles. Maybe it's just style. Since Moynahan is originally from this state, Bostonist should give her a ring and set up an interview.
