The Boston Herald had something special to show off over the weekend - a sleek and sexy Web makeover. The itty-bitty type and "throw it on the page and see what sticks" aesthetic wasn't cutting it, but now they have a more soothing blue-and-gold color scheme.
We thought the Herald's web presence was improving when they stabilized their spotty RSS feeds, but this is more than we could have hoped for! But, when it comes to Web makeovers, they still can't top the Dig's "our ass, your face" redo.
Also on the plus side, the Herald's pages are loading faster. They were never Dig 1.0 slow, but the second pages of stories would take their own sweet time to load.
A few elements are still the same - the Herald needs to take new photos of their reporters because some of photos of the older reporters look like they were taken in '85. And the Herald still manage to wedge in a reference to a toilet in the teaser for Darren Garnick's "Working Stiff" blog.
Elsewhere in series-of-tubes news, transportation blog BadTransit, which seemed to disappear on March 6th, is back and freshly inspired by Malaysia.
