Those Daily Show jokes about killing a hobo for kicks seem awfully funny until someone actually does it. On Friday, two men were arrested for murdering two homeless men in Hingham in 2005. Yesterday, they pled not guilty in Hingham District Court.
Eric Snow, of Bridgewater, and James Winquist, of Weymouth are accused of beating William Chrapan and David Lyons to death with baseball bats in Bare Cove Park. Chrapan and Lyons were found in May of 2005 - sadly, police estimate the homeless men may have been dead a month before anyone discovered them.
As if that weren't gruesome enough, Snow and Winquist are also accused of bragging about their exploits, making "gurgling sounds" to describe the dying men, and bringing the severed hand of one of their victims to a party. WCVB's headline reads "Police: Suspects Took Homeless Man's Hand to Party." Let us clarify - the homeless man involved was not attached to the hand at the time. The hand somehow made its way from the party to a burial spot near Snow's mother's house.
Even if Snow and Winquist are innocent of their crimes, they aren't exactly the types anyone would take home to mom. They have rap sheets, they are alleged white supremacists, and - yes, this gets weirder - Winquist allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and left a tattoo on her behind. Speaking of tattoos, Winquist sports the words "I hate you" on his forearm.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
