These Cupcakes Are Kicking Our Ass!

090607_kickass_cupcakes.JPGAnd the store isn't even open yet! A tipster on our Contribute Board left a little note about the store Kickass Cupcakes, which will have its grand opening on Davis Square on Highland Avenue tomorrow.

Cupcake fans should swarm upon Kickass Cupcakes, as their website features dizzying cupcake possibilities. Cupcake Shooters immediately captured our attention. The shooters are not what you think. Instead of filling cupcakes with kahlua and hoping for the best, Kickass Cupcakes pairs a beverage with a cupcake.

Sara Ross of Kickass Cupcakes kindly responded to our overeager e-mail asking if booze was involved:

"Sadly, the shooters do not have alcohol in them (I wish), rather they are served in the style of a shooter, one gulp shots of specially crafted beverages to pair with your cupcake. Right now, we're offering a milk infused with vanilla bean (we get the milk from a local dairy, Shaw Farm), a lassi drink, sweet yogurt with a hint of almond and an iced organic yerba mate tea."

No booze, no problem. That still sounds tasty.

Another bold cupcake option includes Deep Fried Cupcakes. According to the site, this treat includes "cream stuffed vanilla cupcake dipped in sweet batter, deep fried to order and drizzled with chocolate syrup." Wow. Does that come with a Surgeon General's warning? It isn't clear how this daring Southern-style cupcake approach will go over in a more austere state like Massachusetts.

Kickass Cupcakes also offers the basics, such as old-school chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. But even their regular cupcakes have a twist. For example, the "Cinnamon Chai Pecan Sticky" is a spiced cupcake with "gooey caramel pecan topping." Yum.

PS - The Contribute Board is your friend. Please do leave your tips and announcements there. Especially if it involves sweets.
