Mom Caught Running Teenage Prostitution Ring

Guess who isn't participating in Take Your Daughter to Work Day? A North Andover mom was arrested for running a prostitution ring composed of teenage girls out of her apartment.

The alleged procuress is Melissa Halstrom, 32. Police arrested her yesterday morning. A teenage runaway told police about Halstrom's business and noted that she met Halstrom when she bought Klonopin from her.

Part of the evidence against Halstrom includes a website. Once a john picked his choice of teenager, Halstrom is accused of taking the teen to a hotel to meet him. The experience cost the john $200 an hour. According to prosecutors, each girl may have seen up to five men each day.

The teen who went to police told them that Halstrom kept giving her Klonopin and that the people she had to sleep with were "mostly in their 60s and nasty."

Of course, Halstrom's neighbors claim they knew absolutely nothing about her exploits. Halstrom herself has pled not guilty. If the charges are true, her treatment of these teens is especially startling because she is a mother to two girls.
