--Follow-Up: The three people who were shot on Dubois Street on Saturday night may have been in the crossfire of a gang shoot-out. One of the victims was Joyce Gomes, a 68-year-old woman who was sitting on her porch. Gomes got hit in the leg.
Wounded grandmas, white female tourists, and State Houses make Commish Ed Davis sit up and take notice. Expect another sweep of the Dubois Street area soon.
The Globe has a photo of Gomes - she looks fine and healthy, and she looks tough. Do not fire your bullets in the direction of her porch.
--Some college students in Brighton got a lesson in BPD 101. When they were being drunk and disorderly, they caught the BPD's eye. When the BPD advanced, the students declared, "!#$@! the cops! We’ll &*%?! them up!” Oh, yeah, the Castlegate gang would be so impressed. The police responded by rounding them up for drunk and disorderly.
--Proof that college students don't own the mistake of wedging a truck in the Storrow Drive Tunnel. A guy driving an Isuzu box truck didn't measure correctly and stuck his truck in the tunnel, tying up morning traffic.
--Only 140 of 247 state police departments have been recording the race and gender of the people they pull over. The data is supposed to help research whether or not police officers pull citizens over for "driving while black." Some police chiefs say there's no problem, but, if they're not willing to record that data, then it looks like they might have something to hide.
