Okay, okay, before you get insulted, Bostonist is not especially fashionable. And New York is in the throes of its own Fashion Week right now - so Boston is having Fashion Week at the same time? Isn't that just asking for no one to notice?
Well, Boston's Fashion Week did indeed start yesterday. Much of the excitement appears to be centered around Natick, though, because of Friday's Natick Collection opening. "Collection" is a fancy word for a mall with fancy shops like Louis Vuitton. Don't get us wrong - we're not too cool for the Natick Collection because that means Nordstrom and its generous return policy is here.
In fact, there's plenty of reason for fashionable folk to be excited about Natick Collection and for Newbury Street to feel threatened. Beantown Bloggery points out that the Natick Collection actually has parking and might be a good place for recreational shopping in winter.
As for Fashion Week itself, Boston Magazine is blogging about … New York Fashion Week. They noted the unfortunate timing and said Boston Fashion Week has been "reduced to a punchline."
Boston Fashion Week does have a list of parties, many of which are RSVP. We are a little puzzled by one party in particular, which is Thursday, September 13. This party has the mystifying title "An Evening of Pizza and Fashion." Fashion and eating have never gone together, but pizza and fashion? Some expensive outfit is totally getting covered in tomato sauce.
Boston Fashion Week implores you to get your fashion on. In a T-shirt. Which seems to be missing the point, don't you think?
