We See Famous People: LL's Hotness, Dane Cook's Hair

091107_ll_cool_j.jpg--While fitness guru Richard Simmons was tormenting the Fox 25 news crew, rapper LL Cool J was teaching fitness moves to AARP conventioneers at the Convention & Exposition Center. The Globe did a long piece on LL and his hotness, lingering up on one of his exercise moves:

At one point, Cool J [Copyediting question: How does one find a rapper's surname?] demonstrated an exercise that required lying on his back, thrusting one leg in the air, and arching his spine repeatedly. "This will make your wife fall in love with you," he promised with just a hint of naughtiness.

Hubba-hubba. Too bad the Globe didn't call him "oiled and golden."

--Steve Martin was shooting scenes for the second Pink Panther sequel at Winthrop Square. While the movie's presence is nothing but good news for Boston, it still isn't clear why a sequel is being made in the first place.

--The "Restless Virgin" authors had a nice little book party. We assume no hockey players were present. We also assume that the atmosphere of privilege was positively stifling.

--vinyl_raven at Live Journal spotted the ubiquitous Bachelor No. 2 shooting in Copley Square and was underwhelmed by Dane Cook's new hair color.

--Let's quickly rename the column "We See Famous Parrots." Alex, an African grey parrot who was quite the celeb at the Brandeis Department of Psychology, has died at the age of 31

Copyediting answer: most newspapers use rappers' government names, which, in the case of "cool j" is actually james smith. oddly, the "j" is actually ll's first name, part of the acronym "ladies love cool james."
