<p>From what I understand, a reporter and photographer from The Chronicle bounced into the campaign office like they owned the place and started chatting up people as the staff was trying to answer phones, record vote tallies and then enter everything into a spreadsheet. They were asked to leave so critical work could be done without two kids distracting the grown-ups.

My guess is that the door was locked, so the work could go on without having to post someone at the door to keep non-campaign people from wandering in and out.

As for sour grapes, if I remember the story correctly, when the candidate the fox endorsed lost the primary, the fox walked away saying, "Ah, the grapes were probably sour anyway."</p>
