A survey was released saying that Bostonians aren't very good about washing their hands after blowing their nose or taking out the garbage. Now, we've seen some shameful displays of hygiene (or the lack thereof) on the T during cold season, but we've assumed that these noseblowers aren't representative of Boston in general.
Boston ranked 21st out of 25 cities when it came to hand-washing frequency, with only St. Louis, Philadelphia, Portland (OR), and Denver being dirtier. Given that it's Clean Hands Week next week, this news might make you want to rush out and buy a bottle of antibacterial gel.
Then we saw that Dial and the Soap and Detergent Association (who knew?) sponsored this survey, and they might have a personal stake in whether or not Bostonians are buying soap. But what do you think of your fellow Bostonians hygiene habits? Of course you always wash your hands after blowing your nose, taking out the garbage, or using the toilet, don't you?

Sports Redux: That's More Like It

i'm kinda skeptical of any survey that has l.a. and miami ranking so high for cleanliness.
Whether or not it's "PR crap" there's some truth in it, though I would say in general, this whole country is pretty bad with cleanliness. Boston, New York, LA, whatever. They're all pretty filthy.
Really, is it that hard to go wash one's hand after using the bathroom? Is it that hard to remember to even flush the toilet?
I'm no clean freak. It's just that simple hygiene doesn't take that much to understand.
