Trapped in the Library Slot
We saw the following over at the Boston Magazine Blog a few days ago and thought, now this news story is a winner! Then we got distracted by pipes bursting and raining asbestos all over downtown.
In Hyannis, a woman dropped off videos at the local library, only she used the drop box. Apparently she was overzealous in making sure those videos were returned, and somehow the bracelets on her arm got snagged in the return slot.
Of course, someone called 911, and it might have been the weirdest call the dispatcher ever received. "Help! The library return slot ate my arm!"
The fire department considered greasing up the woman's arm, but they helped her slide her bracelets up her arm. Cape Cod Today has a picture of the woman after the police sprung her from the evil return box. The users over at Cape Cod Today have some interesting theories as to why the woman would stick her arm far enough down the slot that her bracelets would get caught. Said theories have to do with home movies. Draw your own conclusions.
Even better, WHDH considered the Tale of the Evil Drop Box a "Top Story" and sent a reporter to Hyannis to cover the story in the pouring rain.
