Senator Ted Kennedy might be writing a book about his career, and he has hired a lawyer who has worked with other big leaders (as in the Clintons) on their books.
His adviser has leaked it but is being awfully tight-lipped about what the book will involve. The mere fact that the announcement emphasizes his career rather than his life suggests that it won't be the juicy tell-all that many people would like to see. Will he write about his brothers? About Chappaquiddick? About Joan? About sailing?
Ted Kennedy has published a children's book about his life from the perspective of his dog, and he's published a manifesto entitled America Back on Track. But both books dance around the much more fascinating subject - himself.
Tons of ink has been spilled on pages exposing the "real" Kennedy, particularly regarding Chappaquiddick, and Adam Clymer wrote a huge biography a few years ago. Maybe it's time for Kennedy to write about himself - and not from his dog's perspective.
