Cambridge Can Pee on the T! Everyone Else Must Hold it for a Year

welcometocambridge.jpg

Say "au revoir" to the emergency small coffee at Au Bon Pain, T riders. The Cambridge Chronicle reports that starting this week, the MBTA will open their super-secret bathrooms to the public at Central, Harvard, Porter and Alewife stations.

At the request of Cambridge City Manager Bob Healy, the T has has agreed to allow public restroom access at those stations for one year, as part of a pilot program. In other words, if anyone takes a wide stance, it's over. If we all behave like little ladies and gentlemen, we can expect the sweet floodgates of urinary dignity to open at stations across the MBTA system.

Before you park yourself and a 12-pack on the bench in front of the Dance Complex, caveat emptor. Under pilot program rules, you can't just walk into a Red Line restroom like a normal person. You'll have to ask a station attendant to open it for you. Good luck with that!
