Star Simpson, a 19-year-old MIT sophomore from Hawaii, was arrested at gunpoint this morning for sauntering into Logan Airport with a fake bomb strapped to her chest. Crazy biotch wore a computer circuit board, wiring and putty (actually Play-Doh) over a black hooded sweatshirt.
The Globe added that she was on her way to Terminal C to meet her boyfriend.
On Simpson's personal webpage, she writes, "In a sentence, I'm an inventor, artist, engineer, and student, I love to build things and I love crazy ideas." Obviously.
She's a member of MITERS, the student machine shop at the campus. This business might get her membership revoked.
It goes without saying that Simpson will not be invited to the Harvard Final Club.
We're getting Mooninite Flashbacks. Owwww ....
Update: State Police Major Scott Pare, director of aviation security at Logan, spoke at the press conference, which is on WBZ. He said she followed instructions and said, "Had she not followed instructions, deadly force would have been used." Simpson will be arraigned at East Boston Court
Pare told reporters that Simpson had an explanation for her actions - "[The bomb apparatus] was a piece of art and that she wanted to stand out on career day."
Update: Simpson was arraigned in court in East Boston and charged with possession of a hoax device. Bail was set at $750. WCVB had footage of her arrival at court. She covered her face while on the way in.
