Stuck Between Stations: WRKO, 1; Carr, 0
WRKO announcer/Herald columnist/hated Bostonian Howie Carr was scheduled to start his radio show at WTKK (96.9 FM) on Thursday morning. He was going to get a gargantuan bonus option, and he could talk to his heart's content. WTKK gave him an office and everything.
But a judge told Carr not so fast. WRKO wanted to hang on to Carr, even though he plainly did not want to work for him. So WRKO and the massive conglomerate that owns the, Entercom, took it to court and said they had the right to match WTKK's offer because that clause was in Carr's contract. And a judge agreed.
Here's the judge's words: "What Carr could not do is what he did here: receive and accept an offer from Greater Boston Radio Inc. before his Artist’s Agreement had terminated.”
It's pretty clear - Carr jumped ship before WRKO could make him an offer, so fans won't be hearing him on WTKK - at least for now.

"WRKO wanted to hang on to Carr, even though he plainly did not want to work for him." Who is this guy "WRKO" of whom you speak?
