Boston Legal: Mom Demands Investigation After Alleged Witness Tampering

080707_justice.jpg--The DA's office is facing outrage from a source other than the BPD. The mother of Joseph A. Wilson, who was stabbed to death at a party in 2005, is speaking out because jurors acquitted 19-year-old Etanis Cumba in the trial. The prosecutors accused Cumba of going to a party, getting in a fight that involved Wilson, and stabbing him. The person who stabbed Wilson was wearing a bandana across his face.

After Cumba was acquitted, Bronwen Wilson screamed at jurors, "How can you live with yourself! This isn't justice! This isn't justice!" And she is going public with her anger, alleging that jury-tampering helped Cumba go free. She wants the DA's office to conduct an investigation.

Bronwen Wilson claims she saw "10 to 20 of Cumba's friends [surrounding] a female juror who was walking by herself" outside the courthouse the day before the verdict. She took it to the judge, but the judge questioned the juror and let the trial proceed.

--Nia Scott, the girl who came face to face with Little Joe the Ape when she was a toddler, testified in the civil trial against Zoo New England, and now she is $175,000 richer after a jury determined that she deserved some money after getting roughed up by the ape. Even though the little girl received the money, the jury also decided that Zoo New England was not negligent.

--Craig Smith, of Cambridge, was found guilty of killing 33-year-old Julion Ceus, who happened to be a cocaine dealer, and 18-year-old Natalie Sumner in 2006. Ceus and Sumner were shot to death in Ceus' apartment in Allston.

--Toby Kearns has been convicted of plotting another Columbine at Marshfield High School in 2004. Kearns' family is upset because, of the four former teens involved in the failed plot, Kearns is facing the strongest punishment. One more member of the group, Joseph Nee, will go on trial later.

--Former Red Sox player, current minor-leaguer, and alleged major-league you-know-what Jose Offerman pled not guilty to pounding on a pitcher and a catcher for the Bridgeport Bluefish in Connecticut. Offerman, who plays for the Long Island Ducks, has some serious chutzpah if he says "not guilty" when photos and video of him waving his bat over his head are all over the Internet.

--The "Bad Breath Rapist" was convicted of raping a coworker. Unfortunately, Tuen K. "Dickie" Lee is still at large.

Stay tuned to find out whether Nee (tried as an adult but with MUCHO connections)gets more time than Kearns, (tried as a juvenile). Smell test on this one will be easy.
