Jets Fan Sues Pats, Belichick for False Advertising

091207_belichick_ap.jpgA Jets fan took Videotapegate way too personally and is suing the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick for taping the Jets' signals. When this item appeared on Sports by Brooks, it looked like a clever gag. But someone is actually suing the Pats, and they want $148 million for himself and the disillusioned Jets ticket holders.

Carl Mayer of Princeton Township, New Jersey, has some high-minded notions about the sports complex. Mayer's attorney said, "This is a way of punishing Belichick and the Patriots." Does this guy think Belichick even cares? Belichick can't even emote properly when he's giving a guy a hug!

In an interesting side note, Mayer was once an adviser to Ralph Nader. Perhaps he is looking for an "Unsafe at Any Speed" moment. If so, then does that make Bill Belichick the Ford Pinto of the football world?

If this lawsuit gets any further than a "News of the Weird" item, then kids might want to consider filing suits against Santa Claus for not being real.

It wasn't a Ford Pinto, it was the Corvair that Nader said was "unsafe at any speed."
