Animal House: Tufts Freaks Out the Neighbors
Nothing's better than a good college crime blotter because college students are so free with the booze. And they're creative. (Northeastern, you get an A-plus!)
That's all well and good as long as the college kids aren't in your backyard. The Globe ran a story about Somerville residents who are fed up with students "screaming in the streets in the wee hours, jumping on cars, and urinating and vomiting in residents' yards." One resident complained that students were "howling."
While the residents aren't appreciating the free fertilizer, Tufts students are quick to defend themselves from a reputation as party animals. Nathan Rosenberg of the ATO fraternity house replied, "Students should respect the people who live here and the quiet they need." Unfortunately, ATO is the same fraternity whose behavior drove locals to demand that Tufts help pay for local law enforcement. Right now, Somerville police and Tufts police are riding together in their patrol cars, and the city has denied a one-year lodging permit to ATO.

Thank goodness it's a co-ed fraternity. I guess having womenfolk around still hasn't help civilize the bunch.
