Boston Blotter: Menino Wants the Parties in Bounds

101107-menino-official.jpg--Since Red Sox fans have a reason to party this year, Mayor Thomas Menino is already stepping in to settle them down. He met with bar and restaurant owners to discuss when to cut off the sloppy drunks. He also said he doesn't want any live cameras in bars.

No live cameras? What would a nationally televised game be without a cutaway to the fans who couldn't afford tickets but who still want to celebrate? If something offensive happens—someone cussing or a girl going wild, don't the networks have delay buttons?

-- Oh, yes, they call him the streak … a streaker visited the Boston University campus to air it all out in the cooler weather. According to the BUPD crime log, officers were called to the intersection of Charlesgate and Ipswitch early in the morning of October 25 because someone was "running around naked." Speaking of BU, the Daily Free Press has a piece on Brookline police officers who are cracking down on the school's students.

--A juvie demonstrated good manners yesterday in Roxbury, but he's still an alleged thief. The BPD arrested a 16-year-old who took a cell phone from a woman and then said, "Thank you, have a nice day." Elsewhere on the blotter, police arrested Nicolas King and Daniel Mariano, 19, of Brighton, for armed robbery. Armed with a gun and a knife, the pair stole a man's wallet early this morning.

--More on yesterday's drive-by shooting in Roxbury. An 18-year-old man from East Boston was shot in the leg. He hasn't been identified, but the Herald writes, "The victim told police he was with a friend when someone pulled up in a white or silver four-door sedan and opened fire, shooting him in the leg."

"The Greatest Bar" had numerous Fox cutaways from Sox victory in the World Series. Judging by some of the reported actions by club management recently, (including placing BC players in the middle of a management-created melee), public safety might be well-served by MORE public scrutiny of what's going on there and in other saloons.

A bit lower in the BU piece is the report of "indecent exposure" (as opposed to "running around naked") in a separate incident. Inquiring minds want to know: who differentiates (and how)?
