WGBH Throws a Party

Sunday, October 14
9:00 am to 6:00 pm
One Guest Street, Brighton
More info.

Bostonist had the opportunity to visit WGBH's new studio and monster digital wall recently. While the digital wall screams for attention from anyone passing by on the Pike, get a little closer, and you'll discover the architecture and all WGBH's new offerings for locals. Those offerings include theater that will show WGBH programming, and a top-notch recording studio.

Besides the permanent features, WGBH is offering free food and musical performances from the Hot Tamale Brass Band, who keep bringing the New Orleans to Boston, and the punnily named Boston Kiltics, who will greet you with a splash of tartan on their MySpace page. Local, long-lived breakdancing crew the Floor Lords will perform. Rounding out the entertainment is the Daniel Byrnes Trio, whose stylings are described as "grass roots, Americana, soul."

Last, but not least, the kiddies will no doubt be happy to hang out with Curious George, Arthur, Buster, and Ruff Ruffman. They were at the official gathering with the politicians, the board members, and all the other adults, and they looked a little lonely.

WGBH is also making it a little easier to get to Guest Street. Shuttles will be running from Harvard Square, Kenmore Square, Reservoir T stop, and Cleveland Circle T stop.
