Better hope you have some money in your wallet because there's some huge acts that are on their way.
First off, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are reuniting at the Middle East for a "Hometown Throwdown." Tickets go on sale tomorrow, and they are limited to 2 per customer. The Middle East website says no passes or giveaways. Now that's a way to celebrate your New Year early.
As an act of contrition after the much-touted Roots concert fell through, UMass-Boston is bringing Common for a performance on the campus. And it's free. UMass-Boston students can get up to 3 tickets with each ID. Tickets won't be available at the door, so talk your UMB friends into hooking you up. Keep checking UMB for details--the show is part of the inauguration of new chancellor J. Keith Motley.
After beating our ass at the Coolidge Corner with an under-the-sea soiree, Yo La Tengo is returning for a show at the MFA. The MFA promises that the gig will be "almost-unplugged." What, no Ira Kaplan guitar freakout? Then again, Yo La Tengo is always full of surprises. He could freak out acoustic. It's possible.
