This November's edition of Harper's has perhaps the best visual representation of former Massachusetts governor and current presidential aspirant Mitt Romney. The bobbleheads capture Romney's attempt to keep nodding his head to anyone who might have the power to put him in office.
Ken Silverstein's article doesn't uncover anything that anyone who lives in Massachusetts doesn't already know. Romney is a businessman who will do what he's gotta do to get the job done, including spending bucketloads of cash on consultants and having a sudden "conversion" to the far right.
Silverstein goes down to the Bible Belt to see how Romney's new attitude is faring with the voters. Turns out that his biggest problem isn't his flip-floppery but the mere fact that he dared to set foot in our fair state. South Carolinians have quite the problem with us, according to the article. One South Carolina consultant said that Romney's Achilles Heel was Massachusetts itself: "Since I was a kid, Massachusetts has been the whipping boy down here."
Classy. Well, some Northerners might have the same opinion about your state. But, hey, Romney's decided to throw in his lot with you, so it's his problem.
