Boston Blotter: Update on Bowdoin Street Shooting

crime_scene_tape.jpg--Miguel Perez, 22, was shot around 1:00 am while standing in the rain outside the bar Gigi's Palace. Brian Ballou at the Globe writes that the owner of the bar didn't let Perez in because he thought Perez was "trouble" and may have been involved with a shooting that happened inside the bar two weeks ago.

The owner, Andy Barros, can't be blamed for not wanting trouble--his cousin died outside Gigi's Palace last year, and his own father, Adriano Barros, was shot in 1992.

The Herald noted that Perez was shot while chatting with two women. One witness speculated that the two women may have set Perez up so the shooter could move in. Perez is the 58th murder victim in Boston this year.

--Cars struck down two pedestrians in two separate incidents on Memorial Drive in Cambridge on Saturday night. WCVB reports that William Montell, 63, was hit by a car that took off. Then Frank Derosier, 75, of Boston, was hit by an SUV whose driver remained on the scene. Both men sustained serious injuries.

All charges alleged until proven under law. More about a woman who might win the Britney Spears Wannabe Award after the jump!

--We have a new nominee for the Britney Spears Wannabe award: Misty Maciejewski, 27, of Haverhill, went to a 99 Restaurant in Andover with her two kids on Friday night. While there, she had two martinis. No word yet on if she gave the kids, who are 8 and 2, anything to eat. When the bill arrived, she tried to skip out. The manager confronted her in the parking lot, but she took off with the kids. The Herald reports that it gets worse:

Maciejewski allegedly hit two cars as she pulled out of the parking lot and then drove to Bailey Road, where she crashed her car at the intersection of Haggetts Pond Road and fled into the woods without her kids, Blais said.

Forget the kids! Save the martinis! Eventually a police officer and a K-9 found her. One question--why didn't the 99 Restaurant staff wonder how a mom with two kids would get home after two stiff ones? And where was DSS? She has a record. Miss Alleged Thing is now being held on $20,000 bail.

Maciejewski also has a profile up on a reality-television casting site. We know one that would suit her perfectly--COPS.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
