Boston Blotter: Case of the Missing Gas
--What at least one tv station thought was a gasoline heist (hey, it's expensive) turned out to be the result of a mistaken delivery. WHDH reported that employees saw someone in a Lukoil truck and uniform delivering gas last night to the Lukoil on Bennington Street. Upon further inspection, they found that the individual had allegedly absconded with $19,000 worth of gas.
Police started making calls and found that "Further investigation revealed that the gas had been mistakenly delivered to Luk Oil Gas and the said truck had simply come to collect it."
--A home invasion in Winchester left one person dead and one injured early this morning in Winchester. The unidentified men who were attacked were brothers. The 50-year-old brother died of a gunshot wound to the head, and the 48-year-old brother was shot in the chest. According to the Herald, police say they don't think the shooting was random.
This incident marks the first homicide in Winchester since 2002.
--BU students keep on having bad luck with the police. The latest encounter involves the BUPD itself. A BUPD cruiser allegedly making an illegal turn struck a BU student late last night. Clarissa Bottesini writes that Yeon Lee was crossing Comm Ave near the Boston University Central stop when the car hit her. One of Lee's fellow students helped her, and Lee's injuries "did not appear" to be serious.
--Laurel Sweet at the Herald writes about the random, for-the-hell-of-it murder in March of college student Cedirick Steele, 18, at the hands of two gang members, Antwan Carter and Daniel Pinckney Jr. After the arraignment at Roxbury District Court yesterday, the families of the alleged murderers and the victim began fighting outside, and two people were arrested. The photos related to Sweet's story show just how high the emotions ran.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
