Boston City Council Elections Today

110507-voting-booth.jpgBoston residents have two elections today--one for District 9 (Allston-Brighton) and one for the at-large city council position. Here's the rundown by District:

District 3: Michael Cote is running against incumbent Maureen Feeney.

District 4: J.R. Rucker is running against incumbent Charles Yancey.

District 7: Carlos Henriquez is running against incumbent Chuck Turner.

District 9: Gregory Glennon and Mark Ciommo are running for an open seat.

And then there's the at-large election for four open spots, which involves everyone and his cousin, to use Bostonist parlance The incumbents are Felix Arroyo, Michael Flaherty, Sam Yoon, and Stephen Murphy. The aspirants include John Connolly, Martin Hogan, David James Wyatt, Matthew Geary, and William Estrada. If you are just getting caught up on the elections, a controversy is swirling around the Connolly campaign's "anonymous" e-mails against Stephen Murphy.

The Globe has endorsed Mark Ciommo for District 9 and John Connolly for the at-large spot. Brighton Centered points out that the Globe didn't endorse anyone else besides Connolly for at-large councilor, even though four places are open. For more information, Brighton Centered has plenty regarding the District 9 race.
