After several judges gave him a finger-wagging, Herald writer and talking head Howie Carr will return to WRKO after he tried to move to WTKK, according to All Access.
Even though Carr and WTKK acted like it was a done deal and Carr had an office ready at WTKK, WRKO felt differently, and judges agreed that WRKO had a right to match WTKK's offer.
Dan Kennedy at Media Nation sums up the whole affair:
[The return to WRKO] is an admission on [Carr's] part that he got incredibly bad advice in his attempt to shift to 'TKK's morning driveā¦. if Carr had simply let his contract with 'RKO run out, he could then have done anything he liked. Instead, the shift to 'TKK was announced while he was still under contract, and a provision that allowed 'RKO to match any other offer kicked in, to his detriment.
The moral of the story is that people should read their contracts before they go pissing off the old boss. Carr's next few days at WRKO will no doubt be awkward. What would you do if you had to go back to work for someone who posted an image of you as their puppet on the Web? (By the way, WRKO hasn't taken down "Virtual Howie" yet. Wonder how long that will stay up?)
